Perceived social support and self-esteem among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia and normal control

Caregivers of patients with schizophrenia have an impact on self-esteem and social support due to the nature symptoms prolonged duration illness. To assess compare among caregivers chronic Schizophrenia. The study was cross-sectional. It conducted at outpatient department (OPD) CIIMHANS, Dewada, Rajnandgoan, Chhattisgarh, India. A total 100 (50 50 normal controls) samples were selected through a purposive sampling technique informed about after giving their consent. Socio-demographics, PGI Social Support Questionnaire Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale all part interview. results showed there significant difference in controls. result also indicated positive relationship between schizophrenia. findings poor strongly contributes self-esteem. These need psychosocial interventions enhance overall family environment better adaptive state families.
